RTV has rolled out our ‘Secure, Improve, Sustain’ (SIS) program in midwest Uganda under the project name ‘From Last Mile Into Possibilities (FLIP)’ funded by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada (GAC). RTV’s program was selected as one of the projects for ‘Development Impact Window – Canadian Small and Medium Organizations for Impact and Innovation’. Through this project, RTV will support more than 100,000 people in 120 last-mile villages in Kyenjojo and Kagadi Districts from 2022-2024. 

FLIP extends RTV’s innovative, high-impact, and data-driven programs that address multidimensional ultra-poverty in remote rural communities. In partnership with the communities and local governments, each village is supported over 24 months through holistic programming. This includes removing scarcity barriers such as access to water, health, hygiene and food security; introducing agricultural inputs, training and financial inclusion initiatives to increase incomes; and providing training and support to sustain progress. Recognizing that sustainable equity is key to attaining sustainable economic growth, the program ensures women and youth-headed households are prioritized, and that entire communities participate in gender equity training and elect equitable community leaders. FLIP will engage in gender transformative practices, underlining work for women and young women with initiatives that will assist in changing gender roles to reduce the wider system of inequality.

Since 2016, RTV has impacted the lives of 665,500+ people in rural Uganda through the SIS program. With the launch of FLIP, RTV moves one step closer to achieving its mission of eradicating ultra-poverty in this lifetime.
